Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. Then, in 1992 she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel at 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
